Obituary for Donna O'Keefe
Donna O’Keefe 75, passed away at Heritage Health Center in Bloomington on March 1st, 2014. She was born on April 1, 1938 to Samuel and Doris Hatcher. She married Allan O’Keefe on July 28, 1956. He preceded her in death on November 29, 2009. Donna operated a beauty salon out of her home in Bartonville for many years. She also worked at OSF in Peoria in the Business office. Donna lived in Bartonville from 1969 until she moved into Evergreen Assisted Living in Normal in February of 2012. She moved to Heritage Health Nursing Home in Bloomington in October of 2012. Survivors include her daughter Aprile and her husband, Jim Thompson and three grandchildren, Kylie, Erin and Marissa Thompson of Normal. Allan brought three children to their marriage and she is survived by her stepchildren: Joedy (Dan) Didiuk of Peoria, Kelly O’Keefe of East Peoria and Renea O’Keefe-Scott of Dunlap and their children and grandchildren, as well as six siblings and many nieces and nephews. Donna loved to cook and enjoyed making meals and special treats for her family. She loved animals and had adopted many cats that showed up at her door over the years. She kept the raccoons, squirrels, and deer fed in her backyard. Donna collected teapots and roosters and she and Allan loved to go to auctions to add to her collection. There will be no service according to Donna’s wishes. Cremation rites will be accorded and a family remembrance will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to Central Illinois Small Animal Rescue, Humane Society of Normal Il or Heritage Health Center in Bloomington.
