Obituary for Donald William Woerner
Donald William Woerner passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 7, 2023.
Don was born in Peoria on June 19, 1937, to Fred and Dorothy (Souder) Woerner.
After serving in the US Navy, he married and enjoyed a long career at Central Illinois Light Co (now Ameren Illinois), retiring in 1995. Don considered himself fortunate to spend his retirement traveling and with his family, watching it grow into his legacy. To his children and their families, you are his proudest accomplishment in life.
Don is survived by his children, Erin (Scott Shelton) Jones, Angela Gonzales, Joel (Melissa) Woerner, Jason (Allison) Woerner, and Nathan (Shannan) Woerner; his grandchildren, Felicia, Shane, Lacey, Seth, John, Jacob, Matthew, Kamryn, and Grace; and ten great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert (Bob) Woerner; sister, Margaret Smith, and his son, Sean William Woerner.
Cremation has been accorded and private family graveside services will be held.
