Obituary for Donald Summerson
Donald Owen Summerson, 73, of West Peoria passed away Sunday, January 19, 2020 at UnityPoint Health Methodist in Peoria. He was born October 5, 1946 in Galesburg to Owen and Emma White Summerson. He married Darla J. Porter November 26, 1994 in Peoria; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Donna (Mike) Barton, Tara Summerson, Tison Summerson, Trenton (Ashlee) Summerson, Taylor Summerson; grandchildren, Michael, Christina, Brant, MaKenna, MaCayla, Casey, Sadie, Nevaeh, Hayden, Andilynn, Taylor Jr., Jace, Ghanyn, Lynkoln, Kennedi and great-grandchildren, Emma, Owen and Oakley. His parents and great-granddaughter, Madilynn Kay Barton preceded him in death. Donald worked as an open road truck driver for over 40 years; retiring November 8, 2019. He enjoyed auto racing, football, guns and hot sauce. He loved his family especially his grandkids. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in his name. Cremation has been accorded and services will be held at a later date.
