Obituary for Donald Lester Bitner
Donald Lester Bitner, 94, passed away peacefully on Monday July 8, 2024.
He was born on March 12, 1930, to Lester and Ruth Ann Haynes Bitner.
Survivors include his wife Bertha Bruce Bitner, his children Linda (Phil) Hartzler, Randy (Robin) Bitner and Donna (Phil) Goetze, 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Also surviving are his brother David Wayne Bitner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Bettie Witta and a sister-in-law Judith Bitner.
Don was employed by Hitchcock Pipe Company for many years and later was a steamfitter out of Local 353.
He was an avid race fan and drove the #51 late model stocker for many years. He was inducted into the Peoria Oldtimers racing club inaugural hall of fame in 1997. He enjoyed traveling on motorcycle with his wife, was a member of Miata club and even tried his hand at flying lessons. Growing up, he spent time at roller skating rinks and still has his roller skates.

Cremation rites have been accorded. He requested no services.
