Obituary for Donald Hamilton
Donald “Gene” Hamilton, 75, of Peoria, IL passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Rosewood Nursing Home in Peoria, IL. He was born September 15, 1938 in Canton, IL. He was raised in Wyoming, IL by his grandmother, Mary McCluen. He married JoAnn Calaway in Peoria, IL on January 16, 1965. She survives along with his son, Gordon Hamilton of Peoria, IL and brother, Lee Helle of Northport, WA. Gene served in the U.S. Army and worked for Caterpillar in Mossville, IL for 35 years before retiring in 1999. He enjoyed working on cars and drag racing for many years at local tracks. He was a member of American Legion Post 91 in Wyoming, IL and AMVETS Post 64 in Peoria, IL. Cremation has been accorded and graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria, IL at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to Epic of Peoria in his name.
