Obituary for Don Ranney
Don Ranney, 84, of Pekin, IL passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Pinecrest Manor in Mount Morris, IL. He was born on July 22, 1932 in Bloomington, IL to Fred and Ella Flexsenhar Ranney. He married Linda Healea on February 19, 1955 in Farmer City, IL; she preceded him in death on January 1, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Ranney and an infant son, Richard. He is survived by his sons, Stephen (Donna) of Pekin, IL, and Paul (Linda) of Freeport, IL; 6 grandchildren, Sara Myers of Lenoir City, TN, Drew Ranney of Pekin, IL, Kyle Ranney, of Pekin, IL, Chad Ranney of Chicago, IL, Ryan Ranney of Chicago, IL, Christopher Ranney of Madison, WI and 5 great grandchildren, Daylen Myers, Henry Ranney, Grant Ranney, Jayce Ranney-Thornhill and Carson Ranney. Don worked for Caterpillar; retiring in 1987. He was an avid fan and historian of the Chicago Cubs. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Freeport, IL and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pekin, IL where a funeral mass will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior at the church in Pekin, IL. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Cremation will be accorded following the service and graveside services will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, IL or St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Freeport, IL in his name.
