Obituary for Derek TJ Roberts
On the morning of July 18, 2024, Derek TJ Roberts, 38, of East Peoria passed away surrounded by his loved ones after a nineteen-year battle with brain cancer.
He was born April 14, 1986, in Peoria.
He married Ashley M. Atkinson on October 19, 2013, in Peoria; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Riley and Spencer; mother, Holly (Bill) Wikoff; father, Bill (Michelle) Bahnfleth; mother-in-law, Kris (Bob Smith) Ray; father-in-law, Pat Underwood; siblings, Billy (Katie) Bahnfleth, Callie (Sam) Bahnfleth, Taylor (Tyler) Bahnfleth and grandmothers, Vicki Scott, Rosie Atkinson and Barbara Panazzo.
His grandfather, Bill Scott and uncle, Joe Scott preceded him in death.
Derek worked for his best friend, Arlyn “Beau” Ray in construction for sixteen years.
He dearly loved his family and friends. He also loved to live fast, especially in his modified racecar at the Peoria Speedway. He was part of the JFL football program in East Peoria for thirteen years. Derek was a helping hand for anyone in need.
Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at The Trolley 2411 W. Farmington Rd., West Peoria, IL 61604.
Memorials may be made at CEFCU for the Roberts Family Fund in his honor.
