Danny Marx Dibler, 76, of Morton passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Hallmark Healthcare of Pekin surrounded by his family.
He was born December 2, 1947, in Peoria to Elmer and Maureen Melot Dibler. His parents and brother, Steve Dibler preceded him in death.
He married the love of his life, Kathy Ann Donald, on September 11, 1971, in Peoria; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Robin (Jamie) Durdel, Brandee (Amy) Dibler; grandchildren, Mason (Jordan) Durdel, Jacy (Reid) Durdel; siblings, David (Twila) Dibler, Annita (Billy) Simpsen, Daryl (Dale) Dibler and sister-in-law, Cookie Dibler.
Danny joined the Navy with his lifelong buddy, Bill Holford during VietNam. He was a proud SeaBee. Danny went on to be a loyal UAW Local 974 member and worked as a millwright for Caterpillar retiring after 42 years. He was inducted into the Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame for his involvement in the 1962 Manual High School Football Team's undefeated season. Danny was also a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation American Indian Tribe in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
He loved his family fiercely and attended all sporting events or theatrical performances for his children and grandchildren. He coached his daughter's softball teams and was a best friend to the players but probably not the officials. Danny loved being outside, caring for his yard, riding his tractor and going to breakfast with family and friends. Whether he was playing Dad, Paw Paw, or Uncle Dan, his heart was always full when with his family or those close to him. The epitome of rough on the outside and soft on the inside, his home was always open to those he loved. He was sarcastic, quick witted, opinionated and fun. His jocularity will live on in our memories.
Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2024, from Noon to 4:00 p.m. at the American Legion in Bartonville, IL.
The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at csmico.com
