Obituary for Cully "Lee" Cheneler
Cully “Lee” Cheneler, 89, of Pekin, IL passed away Saturday, September 26, 2020 at his residence.

He was born November 24, 1930 in Knox County, Galesburg, IL to (Giovoni) John F. and (Antonina) Nina Serio Cheneler (both came from Sicily).

Lee was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Rocco, Peter, Joseph (Coast Guard), Regina, Sara (Air Force), Rossa; sons, Ronnie Cheneler, Joseph Cheneler and wife, Janice Cheneler (Kelley) who preceded him in death September 23, 2013.

Lee is survived by his brother, Alphonse (Navy) of Peoria, IL; sons, John (Dana) Cheneler of Texas, AI (Jill) Cheneler of Florida, step-sons, Kelly (Sue) Vansaghi of Pekin, IL, Tony (Donitta) Vansaghi of S. Pekin, IL, Greg (Miro) Vansaghi of Texas, Randy (Lorie) Vansaghi of Pekin, IL and three grandchildren, Lee Michael Cheneler of Florida, Mark Cheneler of Texas and Joseph (Taylor) Cheneler of Peoria, IL.

Lee graduated from Spalding High School (1949) where he was a member of the
boxing team for 3 yrs.

His accomplishments are: over the road truck driver for his family business, musician
(drummer) "Rhymers" also Golden Voice Recording Studio, Pilot 1970 (FAA
Accommodation), member of the Better Business Bureau, CEO Peoria Journal Star
1953-1990, photographer for the Pekin Daily Times Newspaper, and author of 6
books.

He married Janice (Kelley) Cheneler April 10, 1974 at the Kickapoo Catholic Church. They were both a member of the coast guard auxiliary in Florida. Lee also Lectured at Bradley University, ICC College, and Columbia University NVC. He also spoke 4 languages: English, Spanish, Sicilian, and Italian.

Per his wish’s cremation has been accorded and no services will be held.

Donations may be made to St. Joseph and or St. Jude in his name.

The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at csmico.com
