Obituary for Claire Louise (McGee) Dosier
Claire Louise (McGee) Dosier, of Canton, IL, passed away at the age of 87 on November 23, 2022. She was born on August 16, 1935 in Bushnell, IL to Ralph and Hazel McGee. Both she and Gerald “Buck” Dosier dropped out of high school to get married on December 22, 1952 in Macomb. IL. They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary next month.
Claire unapologetically embraced her role as mother and homemaker with passion. She devoted herself to the lives of her children, their children and their children (and their children). In her younger years, Claire loved to roller skate, was active in the Baptist church and maintained her signature red hair all the way to the end. She was the matriarch of the family and enjoyed near-celebrity status among all the extended family members she supported and loved along her journey. Her impact on the lives of so many in our family is immeasurable.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald Dosier, and children Vicki Lowder, Brenda Dosier-Anderson, David Dosier and daughter-in-law, Melody Dosier; five grandchildren (LeeAnn (Dosier) Woods, Joshua Dosier, Lacie (Lowder) Sherman, Jacob Lowder and Noah Dosier); eight great-grandchildren (Katie Hughes, Jerry Lee Woods, Kenny West, Caiden West, Taylor Steck, Mariah Dosier, Maci Dosier and Lucas Lowder) and two great-great-grandchildren (Gavin Hughes and Oaklynn Hughes). She was proceeded in death by two sons, Thomas Neal Dosier (1964-1967) and Jerry Lee Dosier (1954-1990) and her siblings, Shirley (McGee) Flickinger, Jim McGee and Burrell “Fibber” McGee.
At Claire’s request, there will be no formal service. The family encourages all who knew her to share their favorite memory of Claire with someone they love.
