Obituary for Chris Stewart
Chris Carol Stewart, 69, of Bartonville, IL, formerly of Walnut Ridge, AR passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013 after a long battle with cancer at her home, surrounded by a loving family. She was born in Peach Orchard, AR on December 25, 1943, daughter of R.J. and Henrietta “Cain” Clayton. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Wayne Stewart March 15, 1963 in Paragould, AR. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Christine Ann Stewart. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; son Keith Stewart of Bartonville, IL; step-mother, Genendal Clayton Atkinson of Walnut Ridge, AR; sisters, Ida Ellen Clayton Hewett (Don) of Corning, AR, Donna Lee Beaube (George) of Baytown, TX; Brother, Van Clayton (Carolyn) of Green Forrest, AR; special aunt and uncle Clydia Mae and R.L. Baer of Fenton, MO and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom were special to her. Chris graduated from Delaplaine High School in 1962. She was employed at Sears and later for many years at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. She was a certified pharmacy technician and later worked in “admitting” in the emergency department. She loved working in her yard with her son. She enjoyed concerts and sporting events. She fulfilled the items in her “Bucket List” by going on a cruise and white water rafting. Chris was a baptized Christian who lived out her belief of “Always Taking the High Road”. Per her wishes cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Dayspring United Methodist Church 201 Norwood Place, East Peoria, IL 61611. Pastor Gary Billiot will officiate. Graveside services will be held Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Oak Forest Cemetery in Black Rock, AR at 2 p.m. Rev. Don Hewett will officiate assisted by his wife Ida Hewett. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Illinois Chapter in her name. The family would like to thank friends and family for their support.
