Obituary for Charles E. Hyatt
Charles E. “Chuck” Hyatt 86, of Morton formerly of Sunnyland passed away Thursday Nov 3, 2016. Born in Tennessee on February 6, 1930 to Paul and Minnie Lugenbeal Hyatt. He married Ellen “Ellie” Elliott on May 12, 1956, she passed away in 1997. His parents, son-in-law Russ Fugitt, grandson, Daniel Heppe and sister Paula Whiting also preceded him in death. Chuck is survived by his daughters: Cherie Fugitt of Bloomington, Cathy Modlin and Candy Hyatt both of Morton, special friend Vanda Duncan, grandchildren: Chuck, Kenny, Chad, and Dusty Fugitt, Jennifer Modlin, Jayme Tibbs, Jacob Modlin, Charles and Scott Heppe, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He served in the Army during Korean War, played baseball with his friend for the Triple A Cardinal Team, was drafted to play with the Cardinal’s but quit because his friend wasn’t included in the draft. He worked in the parts department at Caterpillar, retiring in 1995. He coached softball and baseball for all his children and grandchildren along with all of the other Sunnyland children. Cremation has been accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday November 12th from 1-5 p.m. with a memorial service at 5p.m. at the VVI Bunker in Sunnyland. Please come and share your memories with the family. Food will be provided along with a cash bar. Memorials can be made to a charity of your choice.
