Obituary for Cecil G. Price
Cecil G. Price, 81, a loving husband, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and dear friend, passed away Sunday morning, January 24, at OSF Hospital in Peoria.
Cecil was born in Kewanee, IL, on March 31, 1939, to parents Isham and Bessie (Adams) Price and lived in Neponset, IL, and attended Kewanee High School. Cecil earned a certification in Autobody Repair. He worked in Kewanee for Tank's Autobody for many years before venturing out on his own when he opened C & S Autobody. Cecil ran his body shop for over 25 years until he retired in 2004. Cecil was not one to sit around, so to occupy his time, he began working for the local carwash in Kewanee. Cecil was still working for the carwash until he passed.
Cecil had a love for restoring old cars and had many through the years. His favorites were his 1966 Dodge Charger, 1968 Pontiac GTO Convertible, 1963 Chevy Impala Convertible, and the last one he had for years was his 1939 Ford Coupe Deluxe that he brought home on two trailers and four van loads. He was a member of the Wyanet Car Club for many years.
Cecil married Donna Light February 18, 1957. They had four children Robert, Gary, Robin, and Shannon.
Cecil Married Suzanne Maple January 17, 1976. Cecil became the step-father to Bill, Jeff and Tim. Cecil and Sue enjoyed many activities together, especially their time camping and fishing. They loved Branson and spent many vacations there. Cecil and Sue were married for 36 years before Sue passed away. He loved to work on projects such as making birdhouses designed as campers, log cabins, and football helmets in his pastime. He was certainly not one to sit still and had started making birdhouse a few weeks back.
Cecil was a quiet man with a large heart. He didn't have to tell you that he loved you; you just knew it. He will be deeply missed and will live on in our hearts.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents Isham and Bessie, his siblings Virgil, Donald, Lela, and Delbert Price. Cecil is survived by his kids with Donna, Robert Price, Gary Price, Robin Yelm, and Shannon Price. He is also survived by his step-children William (Cheryl) Verstraete, Jeffrey Simms, and Tim (Cindy) Simms, sister-in-law Peg (Bob) Hendrickson, multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The family will have a celebration of life to honor and celebrate Cecil's life in the spring.
