Obituary for Carol Waters
Carol M. Waters, 84 of Washington, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 19, 2015 surrounded by her family at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. She was born December 28, 1930 in Cullom to Clyde and Helen Clark Blackmore. She married Robert Bishop in LeRoy in 1949, later marrying George Hare in Odell in 1959, and then, Leslie Waters in El Paso in 1963; they all preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three sons, Richard Waters, Robert Waters, and Randall Bishop, one daughter, Ruth Bishop Hicks, two brothers, and one sister. She is survived by her children, Robert (Nancy) Bishop of Eureka, Georgia (David) Kaps and Nancy (Jack) Goujon of Morton, Michael (Rachelle) Waters of Bloomington; daughter-in-law Kim Waters of Eureka, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister Beryl Gerdes of Chatsworth, and her beloved bird Charlie. Carol worked 24 years for Eureka Co., then earned her LPN degree at age 60, and continued to work for the next 15 years, first at Bromenn Hospital, and then as a private duty nurse, finally retiring in 2005 at the age of 75. She was a member of IAM Union 1000 in Bloomington and Eureka United Methodist Church. Carol will always be remembered for her kind heart, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held Saturday August 29, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Eureka United Methodist Church in Eureka, with visitation one hour prior at the church. Memorials may be made to OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in her name.
