Carol Lynn (Hiter) Boehler 78 of Morton, IL entered her heavenly rest on Saturday, December 28, 2024. She was born in Peoria, IL on June 17, 1946, to Gale Charles Ivan and Anna Elizabeth (Moffatt) Hiter. She married Paul Dennis Boehler on August 16, 1969, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, IL.
She was baptized in the Christian Faith at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in East Peoria and made a public confession of her faith in Christ at her confirmation.
Carol graduated from Illinois State University with a bachelor’s degree in education and a Master’s Degree in Psychology. She taught math at Pekin Community High School.
She and Denny moved to Orland Park, IL in 1971 at which time she was employed as a school psychologist in Tinley Park, IL.
In the fall of 1979 they moved to Leesburg, VA where Carol was employed by the Loudoun County School System. Carol volunteered on a Suicide Prevention Hotline in Leesburg. She also volunteered in providing meals for the needy. She and Denny were involved with the Loudoun Amateur Radio Group and Carol was a Past President.
Denny and Carol loved to travel and visited all 50 U.S. States. Her favorite trip was one to Iceland in September of 2019. Denny and Carol loved to hike and could be seen at the Wildflower Pilgrimage in Blackwater Falls each Spring. They spent a lot of time in Shenandoah National Park as well.
In the past Carol was an organist at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Leesburg and Bethany Lutheran Church in Brunswick, MD.
Carol is survived by her husband Dennis as well as sisters Diane Brady, Sally (Mike) Duppert; sisters-in-law Karen Biggs, Sally McGill, Susan (Mike) Tunis.
A memorial Service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in East Peoria, IL or the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 North Michigan Avenue, 17th Floor, Chicago, IL 60601
