Carlos R. Gonzalez, 20, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away on June 25, 2025. He was born and raised in Peoria; Carlos was a bright, kind-hearted young man who brought warmth and laughter to everyone around him. He shared a home filled with friendship and brotherhood with his best friend, DeShaun Johnson, Muhammad Fassa, their aunt and grandma Leeann Prinnell and June Prinnell.
Carlos was the beloved son of Shavon McRoy and David Gonzalez. He is survived by his siblings: Brittney Schmitt (Long), Diego Gonzalez, Miguel Gonzalez, Jayce Stevens, Natalie McRoy, and Dominic Gonzalez. He was deeply loved by a large and close-knit extended family, including his many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Carlos worked at his local Casey’s, where he was known for his friendly spirit and strong work ethic. Outside of work, he was an avid gamer, a dedicated fan of horror films, and a passionate anime enthusiast. His interests reflected his vibrant personality and his deep love for stories and characters that inspired and excited him.
Carlos was full of life, with dreams still ahead of him and a heart full of love. His untimely passing leaves a profound void in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his great-grandmother, great-grandfather and grandfather, Richard McRoy whose memories he held dear.
Carlos will be remembered for his infectious laughter, his kindness, and the joy he brought into every room. His family and friends will carry his memory with them always.
A memorial service will be announced by the family at a later date.
