Obituary for Betty Lou (Bauwens) Keller
Betty Lou (Bauwens) Keller, 84, of Washington formerly of Peoria Heights passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Washington Senior Living.
She was born January 24, 1937 in Peoria to Charles and Lavona (Vandoren) Bauwens. Her parents; son, William C. Keller III; daughter, Dawn M. (Keller) Weeks and brothers, Ralph Bauwens and Dale Bauwens preceded her in death.
She married William C. Keller Jr. December 4, 1958; he survives. She is also survived by her children, Karla K. (Keller) Lewis, Veronica L. (Keller) Shumaker, Paul D. Keller; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Betty went to Manuel High School graduating in 1956. She was a surgical tech at OSF St. Francis Medical Center and Emergency Room aide at Methodist Hospital. She also worked at different restaurants and last worked at Spoon River Home Health as a CNA. She was also involved in Girl Scouts as a leader, church choir and Deacon. She enjoyed fishing and camping. Betty was also very involved with St. Jude fundraising. She helped her children in band activities and high school projects.
She will greatly be missed by her church choir and the ones who loved her most.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at United Presbyterian Church with graveside services at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria following the service. We look forward to joining her as she is with her Lord.
