Obituary for Betty Jo Strawn
Betty Jo Strawn, 72, of East Peoria, IL passed away at 6:15 a.m., February 10, 2015, at her home with her family by her side. Betty Jo was born February 1, 1943 in Peoria, IL to Esther Edith and Leroy Thacker. Her parents have preceded her in death. Surviving is her husband, Ralph Fredrick Strawn, married on August 8, 1958 for 56 years. Also, six children, Tina Gama, Ben Strawn, Sarah Riley, Edie (George) O’Bryan, Sam Strawn and Jesse Strawn. She was a grandmother to 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are 6 brothers and sisters, Lloyd Thacker, Boyd Thacker, Thelma Jean Buck, Nedra Noske, Debbie Pearson, Delbert Thacker and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of Living Hope Community Church in Bartonville, IL. Betty Jo was a maintenance engineer, homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved spending time with her family, church, pets and working in her flower gardens. She will be dearly missed by all and is now present with our Lord and Savior. A “Celebration of Life” service will be held at Living Hope Community Church in Bartonville on March 5th at 10:30 a.m. followed by a luncheon. Pastor Art Georges will officiate to celebrate her life with family and friends. Cremation has been accorded. Burial of her ashes will be in the Strawn Cemetery in Lacon, IL at a later date with immediate family.
