Obituary for Benny Dwane Little
Benny Dwane Little, he was born July 15, 1958, in Mason County, WV but he called Ohio his home. Preceded in death by his parents, Dowl (1991) and Ethel (2001), and his brother, Randy (2000).
His family moved from Ohio to Crystal Lake, IL when he was a young boy, and later in life he moved to Chicago. He loved his Chicago Cubs.
I met Benny through mutual friends and the rest is history, or so they say. We lived in Crystal Lake for a while, moved to Rockford, then we ended up in Chicago for a few years. We both worked in downtown Chicago, and it was great. Eventually we moved back to Peoria. Benny was unsure at first, but my dad was having health issues, so we agreed it was for the best.
While we lived in Peoria Benny had a few jobs. But his favorite job was working for Dream Center Peoria. He started off volunteering and eventually became the Food Services Manager for 14 years. He loved to help all the children and adults that came to the Center. We both knew some days were rough for him, but he pushed through. Mission Peoria and Backpack Peoria were two of his favorite events in which he took part. He always said that seeing the smiles on the children’s faces was the reward.
He touched many lives in our world. He was loved by so many people. Those who knew him will miss him greatly.
Benny was my best friend, my Bear, my world, and my husband.
