Obituary for Ardeth Ann Bratcher

Ardeth Ann Bratcher, devoted wife and mother, passed away on April 24, 2024.


She was born on June 19, 1932, in Vandalia, IL to Charles and Beulah Walker.


Ardeth was known for her kind spirit, infectious smile and dedication to family and community. She was a lifelong learner through reading and travel both domestically and internationally. She also enjoyed volunteering, sports and antiquing.


She had a long career at Illinois Power and retired from the Nuclear Department in 1995.


She loved attending the activities of grandchildren and loved interacting with the great grandchildren in her later years. They brought much joy to her life.


Surviving are daughters Denise (Rick) Stombaugh of Morton, IL., Vida (Harold) Camp of Fort Collins, Co., and Donna Bratcher of Orangeburg, SC. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Eliza (Harmony) McMillan, Emily Bresnan, Kyle (Tina) Bresnan, Cade (Kim) Stombaugh, and Aaron (Kelly) Stombaugh. She also has 4 great grandchildren, Dez, Jude, Charlotte, and Harper Stombaugh. Also surviving are sisters Jo Watts, Carolyn Crosby, Shirley Goodin and brother Bill Walker.


She was proceeded in death by her husband James Alfred Bratcher, sisters Charlene Hill, Ilene Camp, brother Bob Walker, and son-in-law Paul Gaddis.


The family would like to express our appreciation to her entire care team that helped to take excellent care of her at Hollybrook, Reflections, and OSF Richard L Owens Hospice Home.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to OSF Richard Owens Hospice Home, 8630 N. IL., Rt. 91, Peoria, IL 61615.


A celebration of her life is being planned for a later date.


The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at csmico.com
