Obituary for Antone "Tony" A. Corso
Antone “Tony” A. Corso 93, of Mapleton passed away on Sunday December 21, 2008 at Pekin Hospital. Born in Cherry, IL on October 10, 1915 to Luigi and Louis Sebbins Corso. He married Rose Alessi in Pekin on June 21, 1941, she survives along with his children Dr. Judith (Larry) Olson of Avon, CO, Richard (Marti) Corso of Peoria, brother Aldo Corso of California, sister Molly Borgon of Florida, grandchildren Brendan (Virginia) Olson, Jason (Beth) Corso, Jennifer Corso and Heather (Tim) Leonard and great grandchildren; Kayleigh, Hannah, Joshua, Madeline Leonard and Camille and Nicholas Olson. His parents, sisters Kathryn Singley and Ann Lawrence and brother Berg Corso preceded him in death. Tony was a Heat Treat Checker at Caterpillar for 42 years, retiring in November of 1977. He was an avid Hunter, Fisherman and Gardner and held the record for shot put for many years at Illinois State. Tony was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin were a Funeral Mass will be held for him on Saturday December 27, at 10 a.m. Father Pat Fixsen will officiate and burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Abts Mortuary on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorials may be made in his name to St. Jude or the Make a Wish Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Abts Mortuary.
