Amy L. Seifert, of Chillicothe, a devoted wife, beloved mother, cherished grandmother, and treasured great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025, at the age of 59, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 2, 1965, in Peoria, Amy lived a life full of love, adventure, and unwavering strength. She was a proud two-time breast cancer survivor, a testament to her resilience and determination to always be there for her family. Her greatest joy in life was being deeply involved in the lives of her three daughters, Jennifer, Stephanie and Megan, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Whether it was a dance recital, a baseball game, or a simple Sunday gathering, she never missed a moment to cheer, support, and celebrate her loved ones.
Amy was the heart of every holiday, turning ordinary moments into favorite memories. Her home was a magical place during Christmas, filled with lights, Christmas music, and the sweet aroma of her famous cut-out cookies. No one, truly no one, could replicate those cookies, though many tried. Rumor has it she had a secret ingredient (possibly love, though some suspect stubborn perfectionism)
She shared a love for adventure with her husband, John. Together they explored life’s winding roads, often in a Jeep Wrangler. From quiet moments in her favorite place, the mountains, to journeys driving through scenic trails, they embraced life’s beauty and built so many memories of exploration and joy together.
Her family was her world, and her love for them was unconditional and limitless. She had a knack for making everyone feel special and loved, she was truly so intentional with everything she did. She taught us all the importance of family, savoring life’s small moments, and treasuring the time we have with one another.
Amy leaves behind her loving husband of 32 years, John Seifert, her daughters, Jennifer, Stephanie and Megan, her grandchildren, Dakota, Banner, Stevie, Murphy, Auggie, her great-grandchildren, Lizzie and Audrey and countless family and friends whose lives she touched. Including her loyal pup companion, Cooper.
Amy was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Marian Thacker and her sister, Phyllis Colwell.
She lived with love, courage, and a sense of adventure that inspires us all. Though she may no longer be with us, her spirit lives on in the traditions she created, the adventures she embraced, and the love she gave.
Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, you were our biggest cheerleader, our holiday magic maker, and our greatest inspiration. We will miss you always, but we promise to carry your love with us, wherever life’s journey takes us.
Cremation has been accorded and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Easter Seals or St. Jude Children’s Hospital in her name.
The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at csmico.com
