Obituary for Alva Kooken
Alva Kooken loving daughter, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully at 10:53 p.m. on December 3, 2014 at her daughters home. Alva was born Alva Wolford on March 30, 1938, and was raised by her loving grandparents, Emma and James Wolford. Alva was raised on a farm, and was taught values and principles that guided her adult life. Alva was a wife, and a mother to her three children, and was devoted and loyal to her family. Alva was very hard working. First working at Hanna City Grade School, then Logan Grade School as a custodian. Alva later went on to work at Bradley University for 38 years. Dedicated, hard working, and much loved housekeeper, working as a lead custodian at Residence Hall for many years, and then working lastly at Burgess Hall before retiring. Alva was a down to earth, pragmatic, warm spiritual person, who loved life, with an interest in nature and wildlife. She will be greatly missed. Alva was preceded in death by her grandparents and daughter, Nancy Fletcher. She is survived by her son, Kenny Kooken of Broken Arrow, OK; daughter, Beverly Stephens of Peoria; 7 grandchildren, Jacob (Melanie) Stephens, Rachel Stephens, Misty Fletcher, Roxanne Fletcher, Joey Geeseman, Kyle Kooken, and Caleb Coiner and 6 great-grandchildren. Cremation has been accorded and private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Wild Life Prairie Park in Hanna City.
