Obituary for Alice Svendsen
Alice G. Svendsen 88, of Pekin passed away Thursday August 25, 2011 at Hallmark House in Pekin. She was born February 9, 1923 in Pekin to Christopher and Italia Scaini Ghidina. She married Ernst Svendsen November 13, 1954 in Pekin. He survives along with her children, Richard (Pam) Anderson of Pekin, Joan (Lyn) Howard of Pekin, Jan (Brent) Roberts of St. Louis, MO, Grant (Dee Dee) Svendsen of Pekin and Ernie Svendsen of Pekin. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 grandson Joshua, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Alice was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin where she was a Eucharistic Minister, a Lector and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of Toastmasters for many years. A funeral mass will be held Saturday August 27, 2011 at 1 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Father Jim Pankiewicz will officiate. A visitation will be held Saturday August 27, 2011 at Abts Mortuary in Pekin from 10:30 am to 12:15 pm. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service. Burial of cremains will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin or St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.
