Obituary for Aldo Monti
Aldo L. Monti, 99, formerly of 1506 N. Ninth St., Pekin, died at 10:00 p.m., Monday, Feb. 2, 2015 at the Grand Victorian, 2700 S. 14th St., Pekin. The son of Italian immigrants, he was born December 6, 1915 in Pekin to Galileo and Ulianna Zani Monti, he married Lucile Hale on May 28, 1938 in Pekin. She preceded him in death. Surviving is one daughter, Sylvia (Joseph) Anderson, Bloomington; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Scodeller, California; and a daughter-in-law, Jacquelyn Monti, Wenona. One son, Terry Monti, and five brothers preceded him in death. He graduated from Pekin High School, and served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He retired as Traffic Manager in 1980 from the American Distilling Company. Aldo was a longtime member of Sunset Hills Country Club. He loved the game of golf, scored a hole in one at age 80, and continued to play into his 90’s. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pekin where visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, followed by the funeral Mass at 11:30. The Father Scott Potthoff will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Church, St. Joseph’s School, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
