Obituary for Albert Gard Sr.
Albert Leslie Gard Sr. 88, of Manito passed away on Thursday April 8, 2010 at the Greater Peoria Specialty Hospital. Born in Lincoln on September 16, 1921 to Hugh and Ella Goodsell Gard. He married Anne E. Payne in Allentown in 1942, she preceded him in death in October of 1992. His parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters and son Richard also preceded him in death. Albert is survived by his children Clifton (Wanda) Gard Sr. of Topeka, Albert L. Gard Jr. of Cebu Phillipines and Echo McAfee of Grain Valley, MO. He also leaves behind his 8 grand and many great grandchildren. He served in the Army Air Corp and was a Propane Distributor for Skelley Gas in East Peoria and Moline, retiring in 1983. Cremation has been accorded and a Memorial service will be held on Sunday April 11, at 6 p.m. at Sandridge Community Church in Manito. Pastor Jared Gregory will officiate. Also a Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday April 12, at Abts Mortuary in Pekin at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association
