Obituary for Alan Slaughter
Alan lee Slaughter, 65, passed away peacefully at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL, Sunday, January 5, 2020, after a series of lengthy illnesses.

Alan was born September 29, 1954, the 3rd of 4 children born in Peoria, IL to the late Paul and Willie Mae (Cook) Slaughter.

Alan attended Peoria (Central) High school graduating in 1973.

He worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company until the layoffs of the 1980's when he went back and continued his education at Illinois Central College becoming a programmer.

His last working position was at Morton Building, working as one of their programmers.

If you knew Alan, you knew him to be cheerful, fun loving, loved to travel and loved music, owning some of the biggest speakers you have ever seen.

After he moved into his own home, he got his first little doggie, Cisco and later Mindy and then Maggie. He loved his babies!

He was passionate about those things he held dear, his family and his friends.

Alan struggled with his health, but never gave up, fighting until the bitter end. Even as the sunset approached, he remained peaceful, calm and not holding any bitterness toward his plight.

Alan touched many lives and had led many into the light of sobriety, which was another big passion of his. He will be greatly missed.

Alan was proceeded by his parents, his maternal and paternal grandparents, numerous other relatives and friends.

left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Hal Slaughter, Sr., Paulette Slaughter, Michelle Slaughter, and his lifelong friend, Holly Stanton along with many nieces and nephews and cousins as well as a host of other longtime friends and other loved ones.

Alan, you are HEALED AND WHOLE now and suffer no more. You will be greatly missed.
