Obituary for Alan Matheny
Alan W. Matheny, 45, of Pekin passed away Monday August 27, 2012 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born May 26, 1967 in Pekin to Michael and Bernice Cottingham Matheny. He was preceded in death by his father; maternal grandfather, Woodrow Cottingham and paternal grandparents, Sterlon and Anita Matheny. He is survived by his maternal grandmother, Kathryn Cottingham of Pekin; mother, Bernice Hartman of Pekin; siblings, Anita Matheny of Pekin, John Matheny of Pekin, Joanna Matheny of Peoria; nieces, Brittany Ray of East Peoria, Brianna Randleman of Pekin, Michaela Matheny of Peoria; nephews, Collin Randleman of Pekin, Michael Matheny of Wheaton, IL; great-niece, Sophia Russell of East Peoria; chosen brother, Donald (Jeanna) Snedden of Manito; life friends, Mickey Haynes of Arkansas, James Petty of Tennessee; aunts, Lora (William) Craig of Pekin, Gloria Flynn of Peoria; uncles, Raymond (Walter Ogle) Cottingham of Peoria, Roy Cottingham of Pekin, Tommy Matheny of Tennessee, Stan (Debbie) Matheny of Elmwood, Joe (Lynn) Matheny of Iowa and several cousins. Alan was an avid hockey and wrestling fan. He loved his cats. Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held on Saturday September 1, 2012 at 1p.m. at First Assembly of God Church, 1209 N. Parkway Drive in Pekin. Rev. David Carrington will officiate. Fellowship and a luncheon will follow the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Mid-West Kidney Foundation or American Diabetes Association in his name.
