Obituary for Robert Easton Jr.
Robert Easton Jr. MD, 70, passed away in the presence of his loving family, peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 8, 2017. He was born on November 28, 1946 in Peoria, IL to Ruth Short Easton and Robert Easton MD. They both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his three siblings, his sister Nancy Easton Blume, his foster sister Joanie Mason, and his brother Steven Easton.
He is survived by his wife Nancy Long, his four children: Sophie Fowler (John Fowler) and Mary Easton of Charleston, SC, Robert Easton the third (Kim Colbeck) of Austin, TX, and Jonathan Easton of McHenry, IL. He was also survived by three grandchildren, Christopher and Kaitlyn Fowler, and James Easton, and three step children, Christa Graeve, Kim Hartzler, and Amos Long.
He graduated from Richwoods High School in Peoria, IL in 1964. He graduated cum laude from Harvard University in 1968 and from Tulane Medical School in 1975. He practiced medicine in Eureka, IL and later in Peoria, IL. He then worked private duty for his last several years.
He volunteered weekly feeding the homeless in Peoria, IL. He also was involved in Peoria Area Voices for Animals and the Peoria Vegetarian group. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone he could.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held Sunday, Sept 3 at 3:00PM at the Universalist Unitarian Church, 3000 W Richwoods Blvd., Peoria, IL. Memorials can be made to Sierraclub.org or to Peoria Area Voices for Animals, animalrightspeoria.org.
