Obituary for James A. Gaines
James A. Gaines, 84, of Pekin passed away Monday, May 15, 2017 at his residence. He was born June 22, 1932 in Chenoa to Bert and Mary Leake Gaines. He married Donna Kummer October 10, 1953 in Colfax; she survives. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Rick; parents and sister, Shirley Paternoga. James served in the U.S. Air Force and worked for Chris Hoerr Co.; retiring in 1999. He was a devoted family man and very caring person. James was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin where a memorial mass will be held Friday, May 19, 2017 at 11 a.m. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Private burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association in his name.
