Obituary for Betty Steinbach
Betty Jean Steinbach, 92, of West Peoria, II. Passed away July 14 ,2017. She was born March 9, 1925 in Peoria to Sadie Shane Peters and John Peters. She married Gerald Steinbach in 1961. He died in Peoria in 1983. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Velma Woodward.

Betty Jean served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1945. She attended Manual Training High School and Bradley University, earning her Bachelor of Music Education and her Masters of Fine Arts degrees. She taught school for over 41 years and retired from Monroe School in Bartonville. She was employed by The School House for 17 years.

Betty Jean was a very active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she sang in the choir, played in the bell choir and brass ensemble, and was a member of St. Martha's Guild. She belonged to Sigma Alpha Iota, Delta Kappa Gamma, Retired Teachers Association of Peoria County, the Peoria Poetry Club and Homemaker's Extension. She volunteered at Loaves and Fishes and Neighborhood House. She was a past member of Bradley Community Chorus.

Betty Jean loved her church and her many friends. She enjoyed the Heartland Symphony Orchestra concerts and local theater productions, as well as gardening, feeding the birds, exercising at Landmark and wearing beautiful clothes. She will be greatly missed.

Her friends would like to thank the staff at Independence Village, OSF Hospice, and a special thanks to Sister Angelica.

Cremation rites have been accorded, with interment at St. Paul's Columbarium. A funeral mass will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, on North St., on July 22 ,2017 at 12:00 noon

Memorial contributions may be made to the music fund at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
